How to send auto message after call with Auto Message After Call

Here is how to send auto message after call on Android: write one template, decide on auto-send, and let the app run in the background. Setup takes three screens.

Short answer

To send auto message after call on Android, install Auto Message After Call, write a template for each call type, and allow it to run in the background.

Auto Message After Call watches for the moment a call ends. It does not read your call log; it listens for the phone moving from ringing or talking back to idle. When that happens, it checks the call type, your filters and the 7-day cooldown, picks the matching template, and opens WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business with the message and any attachment ready. With Accessibility auto-send on, it then presses Send; without it, you tap Send. The first-run setup is three screens long, and a setup guide inside the app has short videos with captions in 25 languages for each step, including the battery settings for Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO, Realme, Motorola and Pixel phones.

Auto message after call setup steps

  1. Write your first template. Pick a call type and write the message, using {name} for the caller. Add a PDF or image if you want.
  2. Turn on auto-send (optional). Allow the app's Accessibility service so it can press Send in WhatsApp. Skip this to tap Send yourself.
  3. Allow background running. Allow display over other apps and remove battery limits so the app still runs when the phone is idle.

Auto message after call sequence after each call

After each call the app runs the same checks in the same order, and stops at the first one that fails:

  1. Was the call on a SIM you chose (SIM 1, SIM 2 or both)?
  2. Is this call type (incoming, outgoing or missed) switched on?
  3. Is the caller a saved contact you chose to skip, or on your exclude list?
  4. Is your subscription active?
  5. Was this number messaged inside the cooldown?
  6. Is there an active template for this call type?

If every check passes, the message is sent, or queued until you unlock the phone. When a message does not arrive, this list is the place to start; the support page turns it into a fix-it table.

Auto-send setting explained

Auto-send uses Android's Accessibility service, limited in the app's configuration to WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business. Android shows a full-screen warning when you turn it on, because Accessibility services can act on screen content; the permissions and data page explains exactly what this app does with it, and the auto send WhatsApp message page covers attachments and limits.

Battery settings for background running

Some phone makers stop apps that run in the background, which stops messages after calls. On Samsung phones, add the app to Never sleeping apps; changing other battery options can remove it from that list. The in-app setup guide has a short video for each major brand, and the written steps for the two most common cases are in the Samsung never sleeping apps and Xiaomi autostart permission guides. Owners of other phones can follow the vivo background app settings, Motorola battery optimization, Pixel unrestricted battery or realme autostart app steps.

The full sequence from the call ending to the message arriving is broken down on the auto WhatsApp after call page, and the plan for SMS is on the auto SMS after call page.

FAQ

Auto message after call setup FAQ

How long does setup take?

The first-run setup is three screens: a template, the optional auto-send setting, and background permissions. Most of the time goes into writing your first message.

Does Auto Message After Call read my call log?

No. It detects the end of a call from the phone state and does not request call log access.

Why did a caller not get a message?

The usual reasons are a call type that is switched off, a saved contact being skipped, the cooldown, or the phone stopping the app in the background.

How does the app know a call has ended?

Android reports the phone moving between ringing, talking and idle. The app listens for that change, so it knows the moment a call finishes and whether it was answered.

How quickly is the message sent after the call?

Straight away when the phone is unlocked. If several calls end close together, messages wait in a queue and go out about 30 seconds apart so WhatsApp is not flooded.

What happens if my phone is locked when the call ends?

The message is saved in the queue and sent as soon as you unlock the phone, because WhatsApp has to open on screen to send.

Do I have to keep the app open?

No. It runs in the background after setup. You only need to stop your phone from putting it to sleep, using the battery steps for your brand.

Is a rejected call treated as missed?

Yes. Any call that rang and was never answered, including one you declined, uses the missed-call template.

Can I skip the Accessibility step during setup?

Yes. It is optional. Everything else works; you simply tap Send in WhatsApp yourself after each call.

Are the setup videos in my language?

The in-app setup guide has short videos for each step with captions in 25 languages. The voice-over is English, and the first two videos also have Hindi audio.

What does the app need from my phone during setup?

Phone state and contacts access, notifications, permission to show reminders over other apps, and freedom from battery limits. Each one is explained on the permissions page.

Can I test the setup without bothering a customer?

Yes. Ask a friend or a second phone to call you and let it ring out. Their number then sits in the cooldown, so add it to the exclude list afterwards if you test often.

What if I change phones?

Install the app on the new phone and sign in with the same mobile number; your templates are stored in your account and sync back.

Does the app send messages for calls on both SIM cards?

You choose in Settings: SIM 1, SIM 2 or both. Calls on a SIM you did not choose are ignored.

How do I stop the app for a day?

Switch off the call types in Settings, or turn off auto-send if you only want to review messages before they go. Turning the switches back on resumes everything.
