Samsung never sleeping apps setup for Auto Message After Call

Samsung never sleeping apps is the Galaxy battery list that stops One UI from putting an app to sleep. Adding Auto Message After Call to it keeps messages after calls working.

Short answer

Samsung never sleeping apps is a One UI battery list; apps on it are never put to sleep, so Auto Message After Call keeps noticing when calls end.

Samsung phones manage background apps through three lists under Background usage limits. Sleeping apps may still run if you open them again, deep sleeping apps never run in the background, and never sleeping apps are never turned off. Samsung's own help page describes the path as Settings, Battery and device care, Battery, Background usage limits, where each list has a plus button for adding apps. One UI can also move apps you have not opened for a while into the sleeping list automatically through the Put unused apps to sleep switch. Auto Message After Call has to be awake at the moment a call ends, so on a Galaxy phone it belongs in never sleeping apps. Samsung notes that apps on this list can use more battery. In our testing, changing the app to other battery modes afterwards can take it off the list again, so add it to never sleeping apps and leave the other options alone.

Samsung never sleeping apps steps

  1. Open Settings and tap Battery and device care, then Battery.
  2. Tap Background usage limits.
  3. Tap Never sleeping apps, tap +, select Auto Message After Call and tap Add.
  4. Check that the app is not in Sleeping apps or Deep sleeping apps; if it is, remove it there.
  5. Leave the phone idle for a while, then test with a call from another phone.

These steps follow Samsung’s own help page on sleeping apps.

Samsung never sleeping apps and other battery modes

Galaxy phones also offer per-app battery modes. Once Auto Message After Call is in never sleeping apps, leave those modes as they are: in our testing on Galaxy phones, changing them afterwards has taken the app off the never sleeping list again, and messages after calls stopped until it was re-added.

Samsung never sleeping apps troubleshooting

If calls still go without a message, work through the fix table on the support page, and confirm the app setup with the guide on how to set message for missed call. Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO owners need a different setting, covered in the Xiaomi autostart permission guide.
